Leadership.

MPA is proud of the significant restructuring of leases in Canada for prominent international retailers during the chaos and uncertainty of the Covid 19 pandemic (see Proven Results for details); as well as our subsequent ongoing work with Fossil. MPA is also proud of our long term associations with leading international retailers including VF Corporation and its leading brands including Vans, The North Face, Icebreaker, Work Authority and Timberland; as well as other brands including LaSenza Corporation, GNC, Long Tall Sally and several others.  We have also done a wide range of retail consulting work.

In 2019, MPA completed an 8-year assignment with H&R REIT, Canada’s largest diversified REIT, handling various retail and mixed-use assets across North America.  MPA served as an embedded component of H&R’s executive management team, executing Retail Leasing, Asset Management and Development in concert with the H&R team.

Background

Mike Parker established MPA Inc. in January 1995 to leverage his extensive experience in all aspects of commercial and corporate real estate. With proven success in retail leasing from super regional malls to tertiary markets, MPA has the pleasure of representing some of the most powerful retail brands in Canada. MPA has established and maintains strong industry relationships with leading professionals in the real estate, legal, marketing, communications, design, construction, and accounting fields.

The company’s association with global lingerie brand La Senza since its inception in 1990 is just one example that’s reflective of MPA’s excellent working relationships and dedication to its clients. Mike’s personal association with La Senza Corporation and its predecessor Suzy Shier Limited, spanned more than 24 years including the company’s sale to Limited Brands (2007), which was followed by the Canadian market launch roll-out of Bath & Body Works, Victoria’s Secret and Pink.

Prior to founding MPA, Mike spent more than 11 years with Dylex Limited and was appointed Vice-President of Corporate Real Estate in 1993. During his tenure at Dylex, he participated in the North American expansion of iconic multiple retail banners, in addition to re-engineering the firm’s corporate real estate function and managing Dylex’s property assets.

Early in his career, Parker enjoyed eight years with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, working in both real estate and commercial banking. He’s a graduate of the University of Guelph; a long-standing member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, as well as an active participant in industry-related events.
